Deer Island is located right off the coast of Biloxi and Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Deer Island is approximately four miles long and contains a diversity of habitats as well as a diversity of wildlife. I have spent many hours over the past few years exploring the island and photographing its many wonders. While often overshadowed by the beauty of Mississippi's other barrier islands, Deer Island is still a breath taking place. In 2002, the island was purchased by the state and is now protected as part of Mississippi's Coastal Preserve Program.
